Information Technology

The Information Technology (IT) Department is responsible for all computer, Voice over IP (VOIP) technology, and digital signage for Craven County Government. The IT staff work with other County Departments and agencies in determining their technology needs and provide assistance and on-going support in the use of those technologies to provide services to the public as efficiently as possible. Technology items include:

  • Infrastructure design, installation, and maintenance

  • System analysis and design
  • Programming services
  • Equipment troubleshooting and repairs
  • Telephone support for VOIP phones

  • Training and help desk support to employees

Computer Support & Maintenance

The IT Department maintains the County's primary computer system, an IBM iSeries, which houses most of the mission critical applications for Craven County. This system supports over 600 workstations connected across the County network. Also supported are approximately 30 Windows based virtual servers in various locations that store data and provide other functions for County employees. Nine full-time employees presently staff the IT Department providing 24x7 support on a rotating basis.
