Clean Sweep Program

Mission

It is the mission of the Clean Sweep Program to :

  • Eliminate littering and promote solid waste reduction, reuse, and recycling through education and special events,
  • Encourage citizens of Craven County to implement sound waste disposal practices through education and Sweep events, and
  • To communicate with Solid Waste and local law enforcement agencies to stay informed of all pertinent ordinances and laws.

Sweep Details

On the Saturday of the event, Committee Members will be set up at the locations announced. Volunteer sign-up and supply pick up will begin at 9:00 am.  Volunteers can pick a pre-determined location, by the Committee, or choose their own location. Volunteers are encouraged to wear closed toe shoes, bring a bottle of water, and remember your sunscreen and bug spray. We ask that you leave the bags of trash you collected on the roadside, and we will arrange to pick them up.

Spotlight - Clean Business of the Month

Clean Sweep BoM - November 2022

The Craven County Clean Sweep Business of the Month award for November 2022 goes to the Edward Jones office of Joanna Carr on Trent Road. She has been an Investment Advisor here in New Bern for 13 years, assisting clients with their financial needs.

Pictured are Joanna and her husband, Ben Carr, who is responsible for keeping the property looking great and free of any litter.
